DDay 01 for the Team USA Mini-Camp kicked off at UNLV in Las Vegas, NV. With it being the year before the olympics, the anticipation of who will show up has been running throughout the headlines! Everyone that was listed on the roster was in attendance, with the exception of LeBron James and Paul George. The workouts were open to the media, so we got to capture a lot of really cool content. Team USA continues at West Point

TTeam USA has been making their way across the United States before they head to the FIBA World Cup in Spain later this month. Their last stop in the US is New York. On Monday, the team made their way to West Point to visit with some of our troops. An open practice took place for everyone that came out. After the practice, team USA had the West Point Men’s and Women’s basketball players join them in competing in everything from 3-point contests to a very exciting game of knockout! Everyone was all smiles and overall had a good time!

Drew League Playoffs kick off with upsets

TThe Drew League playoffs officially kicked off last weekend. There were upsets left and right – teams that were expected to go through didn’t, while other teams that weren’t on the radar rose to the occasion. Saturday was filled with a lot of excitement.

Coming from the team USA game in Vegas the night before where Paul George had a horrible injury, it was understandable that NBA players might not want to continue playing immediately the next day. James Harden and DeMar DeRozan were on the sidelines checking out the action, as well as Dorell Wright. La Familia was missing DeMar, JR Smith and Ron Artest. It hurt them and they took the loss to the Jaguars. Next up was Nick Young’s team – he did play, but without Paul George or Gilbert Arenas, they too fell to Hank’s Houdini’s All-Stars. The next game was a classic rematch of the two teams responsible for the past 5 years of championships – Citi Team Blazers vs The Clozers (formerly LAUNFD) This was an extremely close game but it came down to the Blazers taking the win. Sunday was the next round of playoffs which knocked out most of the teams. The teams left that will compete for the championship are Cheaters 1 vs Houdini’s All-Stars and Cheaters 2 vs COA. You don’t want to miss the final games! It will be great basketball

Team USA Las Vegas Scrimmage

FFriday night was the first scrimmage for Team USA. The game started off good, as this was the big return game of Derrick Rose. The energy in the building was great – as everyone in the building cheered for every basket. There were no sides, this was just all Americans coming together to represent USA Basketball. The first half was solid, with lots of exciting plays. To end the first half, Damian Lillard hit nearly a full court buzzer beating shot that got the crowd at an all time high for excitement. The third quarter continued with great action and finally the fourth quarter. Paul George went down with a horrible leg injury – the bone broke right in half upon landing after his attempt to block a layup. It was hard to witness but Paul George is one of the strongest players I’ve met – mentally he will come back and be greater than ever. To see the reaction pictures of the players after Paul’s injury, click here.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to a speedy recovery. To see the pictures from the game, click the photo gallery below!

Team USA reacts to Paul George injury

TTonight a horrible freak accident occurred at the Team USA scrimmage. After a week full of good spirits and fun plays, everyone was looking forward to the first Team USA scrimmage of this year. The entire game was going well until the 4th quarter. James Harden was going up for a layup and Paul fouled him. From my angle (I was at the opposite basket) I saw DeMarcus Cousins walk over and start telling us “it’s broken! it’s broken!” he looked extremely upset. Thanks to social media, I quickly saw the picture that had gone viral of Paul’s injury and I immediately was sick to my stomach. It was hard for me to see my friend laying on the ground in pain, along with all the players reactions of clearly being beyond disturbed. I snapped a few pictures of the aftermath. The most important reason for posting this is to ask everyone to please Pray for Paul. He is an amazing person. He is in good spirits right now and will be coming back stronger than ever. Love you Paul!!!

Paul George Camp: Highlights

THUMB_072914_PaulGeorgeCamp2

PPaul George hosted his 4th Annual camp here in Los Angeles. To read more about the event and see pictures, click here. Below is a video to recap some of the highlights from the event!

Paul George hosts 4th Annual Camp in Los Angeles

CCalifornia native, Paul George, hosted his 4th annual camp here in Los Angeles. Each year the camp has grown in size, as well as moving to Herittage Christian school. The camp started off at 9AM with the kids lined up doing warm ups, running drills and learning various basketball skills. When Paul arrived the kids were beyond excited to see him. Paul was more than happy to interact with all of the kids, giving out high-fives and words of encouragement. After lunch, the kids worked on their scrimmaging skills, getting to play one another in mini-games around the court. Paul brought out Oklahoma City Thunder rising star Reggie Jackson as a guest speaker for the camp. Before the camp came to an end, there was a big scrimmage game that included Paul and Reggie playing against some of the kids who had played well throughout the day. Many of the kids were really showing off their basketball skills, making it an exciting matchup of tricky jump shots and crossover. Paul also did two big dunks in the game that got the crowd going wild! To finish the day off, every camper got a chance to take a photo and get an autograph from Paul, which made the day even more special for everyone who came out.

This year Paul also introduced his first camp in Indiana which we were told included roughly 500 local kids who were more than excited to be around the Pacers star. Check out the photo gallery below and stay tuned for an exciting video recap of the camp!
