LeBron James made his mini-camp debut, of course rocking his signature shoe. Kyrie Irving is still injured and not able to play, but he was rocking a new colorway of his Kyrie 1s. John Wall was also wearing a team USA themed adidas shoe. Dwight Howard had his custom DH12 Adidas sneakers. Klay Thompson had a team USA Li-Ning custom shoe. Check out the pics below!
DDay 02 of Team USA did not disappoint – the practice was cut short to 1 hour, but LeBron James came to be apart of the action. Check out the photo gallery below!
TThe excitement of seeing which players will be participating in team USA is a big deal – but there is another world that looks for something more than just the players. The sneaker world looks forward to seeing all of the player exclusive shoes that the guys wear. This year did not disappoint, with the first look at the Curry Two, another colorway of the Kyrie 1, Custom versions for John Wall, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony – as well as some other player exclusives you have to check out below!
DDay 01 for the Team USA Mini-Camp kicked off at UNLV in Las Vegas, NV. With it being the year before the olympics, the anticipation of who will show up has been running throughout the headlines! Everyone that was listed on the roster was in attendance, with the exception of LeBron James and Paul George. The workouts were open to the media, so we got to capture a lot of really cool content. Check out the photo gallery below!
TThe most anticipated part of the entire weekend is of course the All Star game! The event took place at Madison Square Garden in front of a packed arena! The star studded event didn’t just include the stars on the court – the stands were filled with all kinds of familiar faces in the entertainment and sports world. It’s always fun watching the all star game because you can see how some of your favorite players would play on the same team – something we wouldn’t normally get to see throughout the regular season. These matchups and teammates made it a very interesting game to watch. Especially on the west – Stephen Curry and Chris Paul dishing assists – watching Russell Westbrook score everything coming his way as well! The game ended with the West taking the victory, as well as Russell winning MVP with 41 points! The second highest scorer ever in an All Star game (Off by 1 point for the most number!) It was a fun event to get to see live, make sure to check out the highlights on nba.com
FFor anyone looking for interesting, new and exciting sneakers, All Star weekend had a bunch of new surprises and colorways. Aside from the launch of the Kobe X’s and the Curry 1s, you could find the players wearing custom colorways and upcoming releases. Kanye West also released his first shoe with Adidas during all star weekend. Check out the pictures of some of the kicks around All Star weekend!
OOne of the open events that fans can come check out is the open practice between the West and the East. Because New York has two major NBA teams – one in Manhattan and the other in Brooklyn, the events were split into the two venues. The open practice was held at Madison Square Garden. The fans had a chance to see all of their favorite players before the big game on Sunday. Check out some of the pictures!
TThis week continues with a variety of sneakers, some of which have never been released. Everything from What the Lebron 11s, Unreleased KD 7s and Kobe 9s, as well as some cool Li-Ning shoes. A lot of celebrities were in the building this weekend for the games, including Zendaya, Trevor Jackson, Brandon Jennings, Dorell Wright, Baron Davis, Casper Ware, Metta World Peace aka Ron Artest, DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, Terrence Ross and a lot more, so be sure to check out which kicks they were wearing!
TTonight as everyone tuned into the ESPYs, one of the highlights was Drake hosting and carrying the show throughout the night. Drake is beyond talented – from music to acting to hosting. Tonight included everything from a Drake vs Blake war, songs about side pieces and honorable mentions, as well as a kiss from his crush, WNBA star Skylar Diggins. Check out the hilarious videos below:
As the summer approaches and the NBA season comes to an end, the summer pro-am league basketball circuit begins to take off. The Drew League will begin this weekend, May 17. My first year at the Drew League was in 2011 during the NBA lockout. I was the photographer but I also captured never-before-seen video as well. I put together a video showing my perspective of the NBA lockout, including the two biggest games that year – The Drew League vs The Goodman League: “Capitol Punishment” and “The Big Payback”. Every Monday I will be releasing a new episode of Thru The Lens, exclusively on my website!
