Chris Paul launches CP3 IX at the Kings of So Cal Tournament

SSanta Monica Pier was the breathtaking location for the Kings of So Cal tournament this year! Jordan Brand built an entire court in the middle of the Pier – something that has never been done before. This was not only a showcase for the top talent in southern California, but also a launch for the newest Jordan Brand sneaker – the Chris Paul IX’s. There were 4 teams total – each team rocked a different color way of the sneaker. There were also different stations set up around the pier where people could try on the sneaker and do different activities.

The tournament kicked off with Los Angeles vs The Valley. The Valley took control early on in the game and took the win. The next game was Orange County vs Inland Empire. IE are the defending champions from last year’s tournament. They also took a major lead in this game and took the win. Before the championship game began, there was a dunk contest with some impressive players. Chris Paul stopped by with his son Chris to interact with the players and check out all of the Jordan Brand stations set up. The championship game was a great match up with two very good teams. Unfortunately, the marine layer came in strong and the floor started to get slippery, causing the game to end before it was over.

Overall it was an amazing location with really great high school talent! Looking forward to seeing the other exciting events that Jordan Brand will put together! Check out the photo gallery below

Chris Paul hosts “The 8” AAU Touranment in Vegas (Day 01)

CChris Paul is not only an amazing basketball player, but he also is a great coach. He coaches an AAU team – Cp3 All-Stars – which includes the number 1 High School player in the country, Harry Giles III. I made my way out to his tournament in Vegas and got to see some great basketball! Right before CP3’s team took the court, Jayson Tatum, the number 2 player in the country, took to the floor to show his game. His team played against Victor Oladipo’s team. Jayson and Harry recently represented team USA and won Gold in Greece. Jayson is a Duke commit, which leads many to hope/believe that Harry might be joining him as well. Until Harry makes his decision for a college, he is continuing to dominate the highschool world. He played amazing this game! Really excited to watch his career grow! Check out the photos below

Michael Jordan hosts All Star Party

EEvery year during all star weekend, one of the most exclusive parties to get access to is the Jordan Brand party, hosted by Michael Jordan himself. This year was no different – a line of invite-only guests wrapped around the building, as people waited in below freezing temperatures to get inside. The building, located on Wall Street, was two stories big, as well as 2 different stages for artists to perform. Ariana Grande was the first to come out and perform. A side stage had Prince performing. The upper level was a VIP floor that included just about every celebrity you could think of – Michael Jordan, Beyonce, Jay Z, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Andre Drummond, James Harden, Victor Oladipo, Ludacris, Nelly, Derek Jeter and the list goes on…I snapped some pics to share some of the inside atmosphere. Overall it was a pretty cool event to check out!

Jordan Hangar opens in Los Angeles

AAnyone who follows Carmelo Anthony and Jordan Brand has heard of Terminal 23 – a private gym located in the heart of New York – reserved for special events, as well as private runs that include anyone from Carmelo Anthony to Chris Brown. Jordan Brand has opened up a west coast version of this iconic gym in the heart of Los Angeles, called Jordan Hangar. The old airplane hangar was transformed into a basketball court, as well as other stations that include everything from checking out new clothes or trying out your dribbling skills.

This weekend hosted 2 days of excitement – Saturday featured LA Clippers Chris Paul, while Sunday was a battle of the best high school players in Southern California. I made my way down there Sunday  and got to check out some top basketball talent from Los Angeles, The Valley, Orange County, and Inland Empire. The championship game was IE vs LA, resulting in IE taking the win. As a special surprise, NBA Finals MVP and IE native Kawhi Leonard came to congratulate the players. The venue is really amazing, anyone who gets an opportunity to visit, make sure to check it out!

Drew League Playoffs kick off with upsets

TThe Drew League playoffs officially kicked off last weekend. There were upsets left and right – teams that were expected to go through didn’t, while other teams that weren’t on the radar rose to the occasion. Saturday was filled with a lot of excitement.

Coming from the team USA game in Vegas the night before where Paul George had a horrible injury, it was understandable that NBA players might not want to continue playing immediately the next day. James Harden and DeMar DeRozan were on the sidelines checking out the action, as well as Dorell Wright. La Familia was missing DeMar, JR Smith and Ron Artest. It hurt them and they took the loss to the Jaguars. Next up was Nick Young’s team – he did play, but without Paul George or Gilbert Arenas, they too fell to Hank’s Houdini’s All-Stars. The next game was a classic rematch of the two teams responsible for the past 5 years of championships – Citi Team Blazers vs The Clozers (formerly LAUNFD) This was an extremely close game but it came down to the Blazers taking the win. Sunday was the next round of playoffs which knocked out most of the teams. The teams left that will compete for the championship are Cheaters 1 vs Houdini’s All-Stars and Cheaters 2 vs COA. You don’t want to miss the final games! It will be great basketball
