Thru The Lens: (INTERVIEW) The City Of Dreams – Chris McCullough

NNBA Rookie Chris McCullough had an unfortunate turn of events when he tore his ACL during his freshmen year at Syracuse. Being a top ranked player in high school, he continued to enter his name in the 2015 NBA Draft and was drafted in the 1st round to the Brooklyn Nets. The Bronx native is the first player from New York to join the Brooklyn Nets. Follow his journey as he shows an exclusive look at his workouts at the Nets practice facility, along with a trip up north to Washington Heights to watch the infamous Dyckman league!

New York’s legendary Dyckman league hosts playoffs

BBeing apart of the LA Basketball scene for years has opened up the doors to amazing opportunities and experiences. Everything from the Drew League, Real Run, JBL, Ball Up and the list goes on. One thing I haven’t been able to experience while being in New York was their local basketball scene. New York is known as the Mecca of basketball and has some iconic courts around the city. Everything from Dyckman to Rucker to Pro City, you can catch some great games with some amazing talent. I was in town filming the newest member of the Brooklyn Nets, Chris McCullough, for Thru The Lens. After talking with him more about Pro-Am basketball, he suggested I come check out the Dyckman league with him. After I finished working some of the Elite 24 events, I hopped on a train and headed north to the legendary Dyckaman court. I had a great time and everyone showed me so much love. I also ran into a former Long Beach State player that I had shot years ago *Small world*. Stars like French Montana and Juelz Santana were coaching their teams in the league as well! I had a great time and will definitely be back for more!

NBA All Star Weekend: All Star Saturday

SSaturday Night is one of the most anticipated night of All Star Weekend because it includes so many different kinds of challenges with all kinds of stars! The events took place at Barclays center in Brooklyn. It started off with everyone in the building having a necklace around their chair that not only would light up – it also was remote controlled to sync with the music and any other activities going on! (Similar to what we saw at the Jordan Hangar last month!)

The night started with the Degree Shooting Stars which was won by Team Bosh. Next was a new twist on the Taco Bell Skills Challenge (which I thought was much more exciting to watch!) which was won by Patrick Beverly. The 3-point contest was super exciting and star studded! The top 3 players to move on to the final round were Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. The battle of the Splash Brothers as well as defending 3point champion Kyrie – it was really up in the air of who would take home the trophy. Stephen Curry had an exciting run and hit 13 shots in a row!! He ended up winning the contest with 27 points in the final round. To finish the night off was the dunk contest. Zack LaVine came out with some really exciting dunks (including his “Space Jam” dunk) to take home the trophy. Check out the highlights of the night on nba.com if you missed it!
