BallisLife hosts 5th annual All-American Game

EEach year the Ball is Life All-American game has grown. The game took place at Long Beach City College and featured some of the top talent in the country. The game was broadcasted on CBS and it was an exciting day! First was the 3 point contest which was won by Isaiah Briscoe (Kentucky), followed by the Slam Dunk contest, won by Derrick Jones (UNLV). It was an exciting contest, make sure to check out the video highlights on www.ballislife.com!

The all-star game was also good. A lot of great plays, cross overs and dunks – but it came down to the wire and a 3 point shot would have tied to send the game into overtime. The Co-MVPs of the game were Skal Labissiere (Kentucky) and Thon Maker (Undeclared)! Always love to be apart of exciting basketball events and this one does not disappoint!

Thru The Lens: Ohio to L.A. with D’Angelo Russell

IIn my latest episode of Thru The Lens, I follow one of this years most talented college players, D’Angelo Russell from Ohio State. He was visiting Los Angeles for the Wooden Awards, where he received the first-ever Jerry West award for the number one shooting guard in the country. D’Angelo started off his day volunteering as a coach for a special olympics basketball game, then we explored Los Angeles and Hollywood!

Since filming the episode, D’Angelo has declared for the NBA Draft and is the number one guard in the draft! I am really excited for him, good luck with everything!!

Thru The Lens: Hanging with Larry Sanders

NNBA Star Larry Sanders has recently been the talk of many headlines with his decision to leave the NBA in the middle of his 4 year contract of $44 million. Many people have questioned his decision, which he explained a small piece of why he left in recent interview online.

Within a week of that video being released, I met up with Larry in Beverly Hills, CA, to hang out and take some pictures. After talking with him and hearing more about his story and his personal life, we decide to film some footage to get to know HIM better as a person and not just a basketball player.

This is the first video of many more to come! Larry Sanders is a really awesome person and I’m glad I had the opportunity to get to know him better. Check out the episode and the photo gallery below!

Thru The Lens: Getting To Know Rudy Gay

NNBA Star and Gold Medalist, Rudy Gay, sat down with us for an exclusive interview. Throughout his career, you might be able to find a few videos of him talking about his life outside of basketball (mainly about his sneakers!) but Rudy sat down with us and opened up about a few things to get to know him better! We made our way up to the Kings Practice facility in Sacramento to talk with him about everything from sacrifices he made for basketball, playing with team USA, his favorite food, his favorite music, being a baseball player, his sneaker collection and more! Check out the episode and let us know if you’d like to see more videos of him!

Trevor Jackson suits up for Power 106 Celebrity Game

TThe world of basketball and music is seen overlapping all the time – music artist want to be basketball players, while basketball players want to be music artists. There are a few that have been successful at balancing both worlds – Atlantic Records artist Trevor Jackson joined the Power 106 All-Stars basketball game in Huntington Beach. Not only did he play, but at halftime he joined Vine Star, Liane V, for a performance of their song “Keep Playing“. The game went down to the wire – The Power 106 All-Stars hit two big 3-point shots with seconds remaining to almost win the game – but they came up just a little short. Overall it was a great night. Trevor stayed afterwords to sign autographs and take pictures with all the fans! Stay tuned for Trevor’s up coming mixtape, “In My Feelings”.

NBA All Star combines with New York Fashion Week

HHaving both NBA All Star Weekend collide with New York Fashion Week brought out the best of both worlds – as well as some of those worlds combining! Throughout New York you could find some of the most fashionable NBA players attending fashion shows – either as spectators or actually involved with the clothing lines! I checked out the Behind the Bench gala – a fundraiser/fashion show put on by the basketball wives. The event took place at the Marriot in Times Square and was beautifully set up. I made my way backstage to link up with two different clothing lines started by NBA players. The first was Dorell Wright [Portland Trailblazers] line, Scrapes and Gravel. The second was Jack McClinton [Former NBA] and Carlos Boozer [LA Lakers] line, Loaded Dock. Other players in attendance to support were Quincy Miller [Detroit Pistons] and Eric Moreland [Sacramento Kings]. It was fun seeing a different side of these players – as well as seeing the creativity that goes into the entire process! I have some pictures below, but I also have some video footage coming soon!

Stephen Curry launches “Curry One” in New York

TThis NBA season has been the year of the guards – 4 guards have released their first signature shoe. Damian Lillard and John Wall with Adidas, Kyrie Irving with Nike, and Stephen Curry with Under Armour. The launch party took place at the Marquee in New York and despite the chilling cold temperatures, a lot of familiar faces came out to support. The club was completely packed when Stephen Curry took the stage to thank everyone for their support and coming out. There were two performances, one by Devontee and one by LeCrae. Some of the familiar faces in attendance included host Jamie Foxx, Klay and Mychel Thompson, Aaron and Drew Gordon, Lecrae, Bryshere Gray, Misty Copeland and more! Check out the pics

Eric Bellinger releases new single, “Focused On You”

SSome people have seen the behind-the-scenes content floating around the internet from the music video Eric Bellinger recently shot with 2 Chainz; but a lot of people have been curious which song that was. The song is a new single called “Focused On You” which is now available on iTunes! To kick it off, he had a private listening party (which included everyone from Vine stars to Power 106 personalities) to hear the new track, as well as showing us the new music video (which will drop first thing in 2015) Check out the photos below!
