Cal Poly Pomona Men’s Basketball Senior Night

One of the fun things about being in the sports world is being able to visit players all over to check out their games. Last night I headed over to Cal Poly Pomona to support my friend DeRonn Scott’s senior night. The game was against Cal State Los Angeles. Poly won the game and will advance to the playoffs! Be sure to check out DeRonn in the Drew League this summer as well!

NBA All Star Weekend 2014

This year was the first time I decided to participate in an NBA all star weekend! I was excited to not only to see what All Star weekend was like, but also being able to visit New Orleans for the first time. To make the most of it, I booked my trip for 8 days. Being able to experience the culture and the city from locals perspective (before all the tourists arrived for the weekend) was really cool. Wednesday night was when a lot of people started to arrive. I could write all day about the activities that went on during the weekend, but i’ll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Eric Bellinger hosts private listening party for “The Rebirth” album

Eric Bellinger’s hit single “I Don’t Want Her” ft Problem has been circulating the airwaves. It was finally time for the release of his new album, “The Rebirth”. Although Eric’s name might sound new to many people, he’s actually written many popular songs for some of your favorite artists – Including Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and more. The listening party was held in Universal City Walk and it quickly filled with people. One of the coolest features of this album is it includes a 2-disc 16 song album; 32 songs! This album really shows that Eric’s song writing and singing makes a great combination!

Be sure to download his album and catch him at a live show!

Top ranked national point guard, Marcus LoVett, puts on a show

While the majority of attention during basketball season remains on the NBA and college, there is an entire world of High School basketball that continues to grow bigger every year. I had heard great things about highschool junior, Marcus LoVett. The nationally ranked point guard has been making his mark on the basketball circuit in a big way. His highlight videos online have more than 5 million views combined. Make sure to keep up with his career and follow his road to success!

Nike Extravaganza brings out top High School talent

This years Nike Extravaganza was hosted at Mater Dei in Orange County. The tournament brought out the top high school talent around the country, including local talent such as Stanley Johnson (Mater Dei), Jordan McLaughlin (Etiwanda), Daniel Hamilton (Bosco), Tyler Dorsey (Bosco) and the number 1 ranked player in the country, Jahlil Okafor (Whitney Young).

I attended the second day of the 2 day tournament to watch Etiwanda vs St John Bosco.USC commit Jordan McLaughlin was one of the most exciting players to watch the entire tournament.

Jordan had 30 of his 32 points after halftime. He also scored a shot with less than 6 seconds left to take the team into Overtime, in which Etiwanda won. Make sure to check out the episode of Thru The Lens that I filmed for Jordan McLaughlin.

The last game of the night was Whitney Young (Chicago, IL) vs Mater Dei. Seeing two of the top players in the country battle it out was highly anticipated. Mater Dei took control of that game and won. It was a fun tournament and I got to see a lot of basketball talent and some cool shoes!

Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan host “Athletes vs Cancer” event at Versace in Beverly Hills

Los Angeles Clipper Matt Barnes and his wife Gloria Govan hosted a fundraiser event at Versace in Beverly Hills to raise money for their charity, Athletes vs Cancer. Matt’s mother tragically passed away from Cancer shortly after being diagnosed. Matt has been active in the community to raise money and awareness and help those fighting cancer and those who have survived. The Versace store on Rodeo Drive was a gorgeous location, along with the room being filled with guests. Matt’s teammates came to support the event as well, such as Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Willie Green. Matt will be hosting many more events this summer to support the cause, so make sure to follow him!
